The first metal bridges and their Internet simulations

Prequisites: Basic knowledge of webpage design concepts
Objectives:

To study more advanced web page behaviours in connection with websites containing simulations of technical experiments

Description: A study of Ironbridge, the first metal bridge (in the West Midlands, 1779), and the websites dedicated to it.

Questions

SCIENCE ON THE WEB
A study of the so-called 'Industrial Revolution' and its representation on the web

  • Eighteenth-century technology

A summary of new developments

WEB SIMULATIONS OF TECHNICAL EXPERIMENTS
We can use Dynamic HTML to model technical experiments. In the CATI webpage on Ironbridge, you will have two examples: forms with calculations, and mobile elements.

  • Forms with calculations

This is the section of the CATI website 'Designing the bridge': simulations of different possible calculations

  • Mobile elements

We can visualise the movement of a machine, in an animation, or move a part of the machine ourselves to see the result. This is simulation;it can be done through animations or through the use of coordinates
